Mitch Dobrowner "Arm of God"

I would argue that Mitch Dobrowner is the greatest master landscape photography has yet known.  His art both subverts the previous masters and enlarges the potential for meaning within the landscape photograph.  With few exceptions the work of those earlier masters is characterized either by its beauty or a sense of spirituality.  But Mitch Dobrowner’s principal concern is not the capturing of those qualities but the capturing of a Vision, a unique vision no one before has seen.  In spite of the craft of his predecessors, none of them in their time could have made a Dobrowner photograph. « Read the rest of this entry »

Deluxe Yamamoto Masao Update

Master carpenter Chris Leanarts is now in the process of further curing the wood, a rare Oregon raised, instrument grade cedar, for the custom handmade box that will house the Deluxe Edition of Yamamoto Masao. The rate at which the wood is cured is critical and needs to be watched carefully. Upon walking into Chris’s studio, Mark Tomlinson (book binder on this project) said the aroma of the wood was a strong as putting your nose into a jar of Vick’s Vapor Rub!
